Welcome
About¶
Welcome! We’re glad you’re here to learn and explore Power BI with us.
This guide is designed to help state teams build practical skills in Power BI. It blends original learning modules with external resources to support flexible, self-paced learning. Use this guide to get started with Power BI, fill in specific knowledge gaps, or refresh core concepts.
This learning path was originally developed through ODI CalData’s Analytics Accelerator, a service that helps teams streamline and automate reporting workflows. In the program, teams move through weekly modules while building a live report. We are sharing these materials as a self-service version of the program, giving you access to the same framework at your own pace.
You can navigate this content on your own or as part of a team learning experience. Because we want this to be a living resource, we welcome your feedback and ideas. Please use this form to suggest updates or additions, or simply share your experience with us!

How to use the learning path¶
Learn at your own pace. You can move through the content sequentially or jump to topics that are most relevant to your work. Some sections include resources for deeper learning that you can explore at any time.
To get the most out of this, we recommend applying your learning to a real project within your department. This can include answering a data question or improving an existing reporting workflow. However, you can still complete the learning path without a hands-on project.
If you are just getting started, download Power BI Desktop and begin with Week 1: Intro to Power BI Desktop.
If you recently completed the Intro to Power BI Desktop course, you can skip Week 1. Continue with Week 2: Design thinking or explore any topic that is most relevant to your work.
